“Example Geometry no. 6”
2023
13’H x 3.5’W x 8’L
Aluminum, Retro-reflective vinyl
Installed at the Jung Center of Houston, in the museum district
The retro-reflective coating on the interior faces returns light to its source, making it especially reactive to flash photography.

“Vertical Tension” is a series in which a steel frame was designed to encase a tension-based physical system, with cabling that locks square aluminum tubing into position beyond the artist’s control.

“enclosure” is a series intimately related to the “example geometry” series, sharing its focus on flat-packable design and mechanical fastening over any welding or adhesive. It’s exterior “shell” implies an interior volume, while a densely rhythmic array of aluminum rods interact directly with the space created to accentuate its presence.

“example geometry” is a series investigating the creation of volume via negative space defined by minimal physical intervention

“FRAMES” is a capturing of moments - of data, perception, relation, and force. Ethereal phenomena restrained, preserved, and distorted by their rigid captors. A critique of objectivism, “FRAMES” expresses the inherent inability of a viewer to perceive an object, humanity to comprehend reality, or power to be held.
Each frame is a segment separated from its continuity - like a museum (or a gallery) - they represent a time already past. In a way, the steel boxes make the fluidic ribbons they have captured more palatable: they can now be grasped, transported, frozen, documented. They allow for spatial arithmetic (“interior design’) and functional expression - critical components of any tool.

In mathematics, a functor is a mapping between two systems of connected objects, describing their relationship to one another.
This functor is in the Dimension Gallery “Paved Garden” sculpture park in Austin, Texas.

“functor” is an ongoing series imbuing levity via architectural rhythym into heavy, industrial materials. Using consistent rectilnearity across the series, these pieces engage the user by creating three dimensional “circuitry” that the viewer cannot comprehend until viewing the entire piece.
materials: concrete, brass, aluminum
dimensions: variable

“circuits” is a representation of the architecture of information and its means of transport. Inspired by geological properties, Microelectromechanical systems, and circuit designs.
"ennio" is a series that explores bending light by bending materials. Made by lasercutting geometries into acrylic and bending them using a hand-built acrylic bender, they are meant to engage the viewers sense of pure form, and engage in a constantly changing perspective as one moves around the sculptures themselves.
The work will be released as a series of functional lamps, and a series of prints.
Will be released in 2017.

20' Cargo Container, Steel, Oak, Birch
This container bar (sans branding) was commissioned by a global Beer producing company. It was an exploration of a novelty architectural process, while solving unique structural problems (the front patio was able to be wenched open & closed).
The project also included two custom rolling bars.
Squarer is a tool written in javascript to render SVGs in a fashion similar to paperfolding, and is an exploration of generative art inspired by various geological processes. Reading from left to right, it generates a chain of rhombuses that share a single side.
